Whether you're experiencing issues with squeaking, poor braking response, or worn-out brake pads, We will always provide a comprehensive brake inspection and offer a solution to get you back on the road.
Using advanced tools and top-grade parts to diagnose and fix brake problems efficiently we take pride in our work. By choosing Oxbys Autos, you can be confident that your brakes are in expert hands, ensuring smoother rides and optimal safety on the road.
Regular brake maintenance helps prevent costly repairs down the line and ensures your vehicle is always road-ready.
Brake Pads Replacement
When it comes to replacing your brake pads we will almost always recommend replacing them with a set of discs at the same time, just replacing the pads on used and worn discs
will not last as long as they really should. Warped or worn brake discs should always be replaced. However we can always replace just the brake pads providing the discs are not too far worn out.
Brake Fluids
Brake fluid replacement is a key part of maintaining your vehicle's braking system for optimal performance and safety. Over time, brake fluid can become contaminated with moisture and debris, which can reduce its effectiveness and cause issues such as spongy brakes or longer stopping distances. Regular brake fluid checks and replacements help extend the life of your braking components and prevent more serious repairs down the road. This is not included as standard with a brake service, however you can always request it as an addon with us! Just let us know - If we do notice it needing replacement we will ring and inform you before we continue repairs as an optional choice.
If you are struggling for time or to bring your car or van to us just let us know, we will do our best to pickup and drop off back to your home free of charge within a local radius.

QUESTIONS
FAQ?
We can usually complete a full brake pad and disc replacement within 1 to 3 hours, depending on your vehicle type and condition. This allows us enough time to carry out a thorough inspection, ensure all components are fitted correctly, and test the braking system for safety. If we encounter any seized parts, worn calipers, or other underlying issues during the process, we’ll contact you straight away before carrying out any additional work.
The cost of a brake repair depends on your vehicle make, model, and the type of braking system fitted. On average, front or rear brake pad replacements cost between £80 and £125 per pair, while a complete set of new brake discs and pads typically ranges from £150 to £300. This includes parts and labour. For an accurate quote, we always inspect your braking system first to check for any wear on calipers or other components. Transparent pricing and honest advice are always guaranteed — no hidden costs, just quality brake repairs at a fair price.
Absolutely! If you’re unable to bring your car to our garage, we offer a vehicle collection and return service to make your brake repair or service as convenient as possible. One of our team members can safely collect your car from your home or workplace, carry out the necessary brake work, and return it once the job is complete. This service is ideal if your vehicle isn’t safe to drive or you simply have a busy schedule. Just get in touch to arrange a collection, and we’ll take care of the rest — quick, reliable, and hassle-free. Do consider this will be an additional cost if you need a complete pickup and drop off service.
Common signs include squealing or grinding noises, vibrations when braking, a soft brake pedal,
or your car pulling to one side. You may also see a brake warning light on your dashboard especially if your brake pads are low.
On average, brake pads last between 15,000 and 60,000 miles depending on driving style, conditions and quality of fitted brakes.
Brake discs typically last longer — often up to 50,000 miles — but should always be inspected with every pad change and it is often advised to do both together.
Squeaking can be caused by worn brake pads, glazing on the pads or discs, or a build-up of dust and debris.
It’s best to have them checked early to prevent further wear or damage.
It’s not recommended. Driving with worn brake pads reduces stopping power and can cause serious
damage to your discs and calipers, leading to much higher repair costs. This can also cause the pistons seal to burst in the caliper wwhen driven too low resulting in your brakes failing.
We use high-quality OEM-spec parts that meet or exceed manufacturer standards. This is what is typically available to the majority of car repair garages.
If you prefer genuine manufacturer components, we can supply and fit those on request.
